It's getting closer!
Our favorite time of the year is getting closer and closer. Sydney continues to be brave and loves the spooky house. The other kids do as well but Syd continues to amaze us by her fearless nature.
Simchas Torah and The Torah
I can not tell you how much I did not want to go to Shul for Simchas Torah. I was tired, the kids were tired, Matt was tired, it was raining, and the kids had school the next day. I could rattle off about ten more reasons why I did not want to go but Sydney did and she MADE us go.
She wanted to dance with the Torah and dance she did. She was dancing when the other kids had stopped dancing and moved on to playing. She danced around that Beama with her little stuffed Torah over head and an expression of sheer joy. People stopped me and said "Look at her face!".
So we went to Shul because Sydney insisted and I'm so glad she did because we had a wonderful time. They even gave the kids the Torahs to take home. Sydney fell asleep cuddling hers and she has kept it on her bed ever since.

Potty Training My Monster
Akiva has been ready to be potty trained for at least the last four months, maybe more. I have not pushed the issue. I have ignored the signs. I have put a diaper on him as he has said " I pee on potty mom". He takes off his diaper sometimes and uses the toilet. He likes to poop in the potty! He even uses the toilets in public restrooms. Why am I ignoring the obvious signs? Because I. Know. My. Life. Will. Change. I will have to stay home for a few days and that's all it would take. He is so ready. His poor old mom isn't. She knows that car trips will be slower, we will have to stop more frequently. Shopping trips will be longer because he will have to visit each toilet twice.
While diapers are just gross to change and I can't wait to never have to do that again, they are easy. There I said it. They are just so easy. I'm going to have to suck it up in the next few weeks and say goodbye to diapers and hello to every toilet in south Florida.
