Milking it

I think Matt is trying for saint hood. He is usually very nice and helpful but today he went above and beyond and let me sleep until nine forty five this morning, on a weekday! I can honestly say that I needed it and Matt is my hero. I usually don't get very sick if I can get sleep and so far the cold is just a runny nose and mild cough. Lets just hope Matt continues on his path to saint hood and lets me sleep late every day this weekend.
I think Sydney is feeling much better. Her cough seems to have improved and her mood is good as long as she is not tired. When she is tired, the slightest thing sets her off and it turns into a complete meltdown. She is learning how to milk this illness. When things don't go her way she says "I don feel goot", our hearts melt and she gets the attention she is looking for and moves on. She has discovered that she has my dad wrapped around her little finger (with some gentle coaching from me!). We were getting into the car today and she saw a wrapper for her favorite snack, dried strawberries and banana's, and asked for some. I told her that maybe we would have them as a snack later she said "No, I want to eat them in a restaurant wit Pappa". You can be sure that when my dad heard this story he was thrilled that she wanted to go out with him.
Later on in the mall the girls were waving at the train go around Santa's village when Sydney decided that she wanted to "go on dat". I explained that I had no money so we could not go on. Sydney reached into her pocket and said "I hab money" and she was right, she had eleven cents. I told her that we needed more money and that when Grandpa got home from vacation he would take her for a ride on the train. She really liked that idea and told me very enthusiastically that "Poppa takin me on choo-choo-train!!" Now she can't wait for him to leave and come home so he can take her on that train. Even Lior told Matt about Poppa and the train at dinner. Everyone can't wait for him to leave so he can hurry home and take them fora ride on a choo-choo-train.

Our first sick day

Sydney is still sick. She woke up with a fever so no school for her. I was really nervous about sending Lior to school without Sydney but I decided that just because Sydney was sick it was no reason to keep Lior at home. While Lior was eating breakfast Matt and I sat down and explained the situation to her. The conversation went something like this:
"Lior after breakfast you are going to get dressed and go to school."
"O'tay mommy"
"Sydney is sick so she is going to stay home with mommy and just big girl Lior is going to go to school"
"O'tay mommy. more yeyow raisins pease!!"
"Lior, Sydney is not going to school, just Lior."
Lior just munches raisins while Sydney says:
"Sydney stayin' home yor"
The rest of the morning was just as easy, Lior walked to school, walked into her room and never looked back. I walked in and gave her a kiss and reminded her she was a big girl. She walked away and had a great day. On the way back to the house Sydney was talking to Jordan telling her "I comin home wit you, Jordan". Needless to say Sydney was thrilled to spend the morning with me and Jordan and her mood only improved after she found out we were going to the Little Gym.
Her overall mood may have improved with the idea of going to the gym but I think it was the Motrin that made her feel better because as soon as it wore off she was an unhappy little girl. I hope she feels better in the morning and that the fever does not come back because I now have my daughters cold and would like to have an easy day tomorrow.
Both Matt and I are so proud of Lior and how great she did at school today by herself. Our girls have never really been away from each other. They were separated for five days when Lior was in the hospital but beyond a few trips to the doctor or to the store they have never spent time away from the other one. Lior went through the day at school without her partner in crime and did a fantastic job. She never complained or asked for Sydney. When she got home they were very affectionate and Lior did say she missed Sydney at school.

Teacher conferences

Sydney is a new child. She feels much better and she is well enough to go to school tomorrow, HURRAY!!!! She actually wanted to go to school tonight but I think that was mearly a procrastination technique she is trying out.
We had parent teacher conferences at school tonight and Matt and I were very pleased to hear how well behaved the girls were at school. They are on target for all of their skills and play well with the other kids. I was surprised to hear that they were not hitting, pushing or acting aggressively to the other children in the class. I do not think the girls are aggressive by any means but they are just two years old and two year- olds hit, kick and bite to get their point across but apparently our little monkeys have learned an important lesson, we do not hit. Unfortunately, they have only learned this lesson at school because they still beat the shit out of each other at home.
The teachers seemed to really like our girls and were thrilled with their abilities. They have always followed directions well. It is nice to see that they are able to follow directions in a large group. Now I hope they will conform to peer pressure and start potty training so that we will not have four kids in diapers come April.

Here we go again!

Sydney is sick, again! She has been coughing for a few days but has been feeling fine. This morning she did not eat much breakfast, a sure sign that something is wrong. By the time I picked her up at school it was official, she was sick. Her teacher said that she started coughing more and more as the day went on and she was just not herself. When I got her home she just wanted to cuddle with me and she had a fever.
After a nap on the couch she was completely drenched and did not really want to get off the couch. She spent the rest of the day watching television which is not like her. She did not even want to eat dinner although she did want to take a bath with her sisters.
I hate when the kids are sick and you can not do anything to make them feel better. I hope the other kids do not get sick this time because the thought of three sick clingy kids makes me feel sick!

The end to all the fun

It is the end to a long weekend and I am so very sad to see it end. It has only been four days but I like having Matt home to help with the kids. For four mornings Matt has allowed me to sleep late, he has helped dress the girls, he has taken them outside to play and he has chased them around and made sure they were walking with us.
It was a great weekend, we had fun every day and the girls got to play outside every day. Matt and I even had the opportunity to go out to dinner and a movie last night while my parents watched the girls. My poor dad has a rotten cold and my parents still came over to watch the girls so Matt and I could enjoy our free movie tickets and we had a great time. We even enjoyed the movie!
Now that this wonderful weekend is over and it is back to laundry, waking up earlier, and chasing after the girls by myself I am off to sleep so I can keep up with our monkeys!

Gone to the turtles

Over this long holiday weekend, we have been looking for fun activities where the girls can "yook for animals". We decided on one of our favorite places today and took the girls to Gumbo Limbo. They rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles. What could be bad? We made it in time for the feeding which we usually enjoy and today was no exception. Although the girls ability to sit through the feeding at each tank was not as good as it usually is. I think it was because the animals were not that hungry today. Usually they throw some fish juice in the water and the fish whip into a frenzy, not today, so it did not hold the girls interest that long.
There is also a great nature walk along a boardwalk where you can see the Intracoastal Waterway, huge spiders, and wild coffee growing. Today was extremely overcast and cool so the breeze was delightful. It is usually so hot and humid that we are dripping wet by the time we are done with the walk, I hope this cool weather lasts a lot longer. Sydney enjoyed the freedom of being able to walk along the boardwalk by herself. She was running ahead and would not stop. It was as if she had a mission and was not going to stop until she completed it. It turns out that her mission was to climb the observation tower, twice, while Matt chased after her. Lior and Jordan decided to follow Sydney up to the top, each time she went up. The wind was blowing today and Matt said you could feel the tower sway up at the top. I am glad that I chose not to stand at the top. I am dizzy enough.
The girls discovered the turtle sculptures at the entrance today and had a fantastic time "riding the turtles". Matt and I tried and tried to get them to sit on one turtle so we could take a picture. Trying to get them on one was not an easy task for each child had picked a favorite turtle and refused to sit on any other turtle. We reduced our selves to bribery and got a few cute pictures but getting them all to look at me at the same time was almost as hard as getting them on the same turtle!

After Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday complete with Turkey and all the trimmings. Of course I did not take any pictures of our girls eating all the dip prior to dinner. They were having a wonderful time taking the crackers dipping into the bowl and licking off all the dip and starting all over again. It was a sight to see because the girls were having so much fun. Sydney was dipping crackers and giving them out to anyone that wanted one. I was thankful that no one seemed to mind the double dipping and allowed the girls to have a great time.
Today was another great day. Matt let me sleep late, which was a wonderful gift, although when I woke up the big girls wanted me to change their poopy diapers and Matt was more than happy to let them into our bedroom to let me know. I went to Target to take advantage of some of their sales and BJ's to purchase a months worth of diapers by myself while Matt took care of the girls. The shopping took me less than an hour and a half. I had forgotten how quickly one can get in and out of a store without three children picking up every thing in sight.
After a nap for the girls we met our friends at the park where the kids ran like mad and played like big kids. My friend Joy and I were thrilled to see our little guys run off and play, without us. They climbed, they slid, they jumped and they ran across a wobbly bridge while we stood along the perimeter and watched. Matt played with the kids and helped them when they needed it but he is a big kid and would rather get down and dirty than chat with the girls. Sydney is so strong and fearless she was able to hold on and fly while we watched and cheered.

Lior liked flying with Daddy

And so did Jordan.
The girls are lucky that there dad is a bigger kid than they are, it makes going to the park that much more fun!

A fun day

The big girls had a feast at school today. They ate the soup and mashed potatoes that they made at school yesterday. They sang a song about a turkey, a pumpkin and some cranberry sauce and another about what the turkey says. I think they had fun with grandma and grandpa visiting their classroom.

After their wonderful feast we headed to the Little Gym with daddy, which could not have made the kids happier. Lior was so very happy to have her daddy at the gym. She was doing forward rolls and hanging from bars every chance she got. Sydney enjoyed running from Matt as he chased her around the gym. Jordan even had a great time trying to pull the tape off the floor. It had been a very long time since Matt had seen the girls at the gym and he was amazed at how there skills had improved and how self confident they were.

Runny noses

We got the results from Sydney's renal ultra-sound today and it was normal. That is such a relief, no more tests! Lets just hope that was her first and last UTI.
The snot bug has hit our house. Poor Jordan can barely breathe and she will not let us wipe her nose. Lior has green silly puddy dripping from her nose and she looks like she has been hit by a truck. Sydney has a little bit of a clogged nose but hers seems to have settled in her chest and when she coughs it sounds like she has been smoking three packs a day for two years. Lior's nose was so thick and goopy they sent her home from school two hours early. Sydney stayed for the whole day, alone, without Lior. Matt and I were so happy that Sydney was able to stay without having her partner in crime. When I asked her where Lior was today she said "Lior with Morah Leslie" and she was right the Director, Leslie, pulled Lior out and made sure Sydney did not see me. It worked and Sydney had a very successful day.

Doctor day

Today was a day for doctors. I had a regular OB appointment today, the doctor listened to the babies heartbeat and it was perfect. I feel good and the appointment was a real breeze, it is always great when you go to the doctor and he wants you to gain weight! I also heard from the doctor who did our level II ultra-sound last week. He rambled off a bunch of odds for the risk of down syndrome, Trisomy 18 and one other syndrome- all the odds sounded good to me so I asked him if an amnio was warranted and he said something like "If those numbers sound good to you then no." I told him I thought they sounded good and he replied "good luck". It is a good thing that I have another appointment with this guy next week so I can stop reading into his "good luck" comment and Matt can tell me what the numbers mean. When I hear numbers I tend to shut down and can't understand the big picture, Matt is really good at putting it all into perspective for me. I know everything is fine and I have nothing to worry about, it will just be nice to have some reassurance.
Poor Sydney got railroaded today. I have been trying to get in touch with the pediatricians office since their doctors appointment to schedule her renal ultra-sound. I finally reached a person who was able to set up an appointment today. Taking her on such short notice was difficult because Matt was unable to come with us. Thank goodness my mom was able to watch Lior and Jordan because it would have been very difficult to manage all three kids for this appointment. I thought it was tough to get Sydney measured at the doctors office, well that was nothing compared to today. Sydney wanted nothing to do with the entire test. I tried to prepare her for what they were going to do when we were sitting in the waiting room. Her response was "No I doe wan to, I go see Namaw Poppa" and walked to the door.
Once we were in the room and showing Sydney the equipment things did not improve. She did not want to touch the wand or the jelly and she even refused to look at her belly on the television. I had to wrestle her into my arms and fight to keep her there. Keeping her still enough for the tech required me to squeeze her with all of my might without crushing her. I did not even try to keep her quiet because that was a complete waste of time. I think my ears are still ringing with the sounds of her crying. Sydney is as strong as an ox and now my body is aching, she seems fine, perhaps a little tired but not nearly as worn out as I am. Hopefully the ultra-sound will reveal NOTHING and she will require no further testing. We are keeping everything crossed.

Lior's talking

Lior has been talking up a storm lately and what she has to say is very funny. This morning while Matt was making them breakfast Lior pulled a chip clip out of the drawer and said something to Matt. He was not quite sure what he heard, so he asked her again and again. Then he sent her into our room so I could translate. The first thing I heard was "I wanna cut Daddy's penis" this must have been what Matt heard and had him running for my protection. Upon further discussion and several repetitions which led to questions like, "Do you want to cut Daddy's fingers or his Penis?" "NO!!! I wanna cyip hid pingers!!!" Matt felt much better but still wants to know how the word fingers can so much like penis at seven thirty in the morning.
Later this morning I asked Sydney to do something and it was taking her some time to process what I said. I asked her if she heard me and Lior replied "Mommy, Tidney workin on it" and Sydney said "Yeah I workin on it!"
After I told the girls that Grandma would be coming with us to the zoo as soon as daddy came home from work we had a longer conversation about grandma. I asked Lior some questions about grandma and who grandma was she said "Gamma Joyce", who knew they knew her name? Sydney followed up that comment with "Poppa Eddie".
I took the girls to Publix this morning by myself, which is a post for another day, and we were buying ice cream for Thanksgiving dinner. When I showed Lior the vanilla ice cream she got really upset and said "no, no Mommy I don yike dat ice cream I yike coffee ice cream". At the zoo they were moving some of the turtles into a different habitat and Matt told the girls to say goodbye to the turtles and Lior replied "Daddy, turtles don talk". When we asked her if some other animals talked she said yes, after all a tiger does say "roar"!

The little ones

Matt felt very guilty after her read my post today and sent me the scan immediately. Now that I have figured out how to post it, they look really small and blurry (if you click on the picture you can have a larger view). No wonder I have to go back for another scan in a few weeks! The bottom two photos are great views of the skull and spine. You can see the eye sockets, the nose, and a cute little mouth. The spine is also fully visible. Matt and I have had a lot of practice in the last few years looking at these blurry pictures, we think can often make out the images and people look at us like we have two heads because they think it looks like a blob. I can't wait for the next scan because the baby will be that much bigger and we should be able to see a lot more.
I took Jordan to the gym this morning while the big girls were in school, we had a great-great time! She is truly amazing! She climbs everything and anything she can and when she gets to the top she turns her little body around and climbs down safely. When they were practicing the skill of the week, which involved grabbing the bar with both hands so that the kids were doing wheel barrels with bar. Jordan took it a step further and started to move her legs upright into a hand stand, which according to the instructor was "amazing". Apparently she has really strong stomach and back muscles. This thrills me and scares me both at the same time. She already climbs everything in our house with ease, what is next? Both Matt and I are clumsy individuals, with little to no coordination, how did we create three little girls with outstanding gross and fine motor skills????

Level II

I went for my level II ultra-sound today. The ultra-sound is very lengthy and it measures the anatomy of the baby. A few minutes into the scan, Matt turned to me and said something like "holy shit we are having another baby!" I am about eighteen weeks pregnant and he is just now realizing I am pregnant. I think it is hitting us both slowly because we are so busy chasing after the three we have running and climbing all over our house.
During this ultra-sound they scan everything and we still do not know the sex of the baby! It really takes some great restraint to tell them that we don't want to know what sex the baby is and then follow through with request. This is especially difficult after she has told us to look away from the screen because she needs to check "down there". For a brief moment I had an overwhelming urge to ask her if we were having another girl, but I controlled myself and the urge passed.
From what we can tell and from what little information the doctor gave us the baby looks good and there is nothing wrong. I believe the doctor told me that at least three times because I have to go back in a few weeks so they can re-scan the babies heart and I think he thought we were a little worried. I remember having to go back after the twins level II because they could not get a good view of one of one of the girls heart and it was nothing. I will get another ultra-sound out of it so I don't mind going back.
Where are the pictures of our newest offspring, you ask? Well blame Matt that they are not being posted. I only reminded him about a half a dozen times to scan the picture at work and send it to me. Guess what? He remembered to scan the pictures but forgot to send them to me, so I will have to post them when he gets around to sending them to me. Thanks Matt!

Party time

We had Jordan's birthday party today. It was a great, there was a bounce house and the kids played on the swings. There was a nice cool breeze so it was not too hot which is always something to worry about in South Florida. The food was gone in a flash and everyone said it was good. I took one hundred and seventy one pictures of all the festivities, hopefully I was able to catch Jordan having fun on her big day.
Jordan was not sure about the crowds of people and clung to us for the majority of the day. She was fine as long as she did not see me but when she saw her mom walk by she wanted to be held by me. She allowed her uncle Mike to hold her for awhile, he had not seen her since she was a tiny baby and it was great that he was able to come and help her celebrate the big day.
Her uncle Mark also made it but I never got a picture of him with one of the girls.
The cake was a great big hit and I am thrilled. I had so much fun making the cake, I can't wait to make another one!

The big girls helped Jordan blow out her candles and make a wish. Jordan did not want to touch her cake, she ripped the table cloth and tried to eat that but wanted no part of the "smash cake" I made for her to dive into. She liked the dog biscuit but that was about it, until the fruit hit the table and then she went to town on the fruit. Matt thinks she ate an entire watermelon and a ton of grapes. I think she sat at the dining room table talking to our friend James for about thirty minutes while she ate all that fruit.
After all of our guests left the big girls helped Jordan open all of her wonderful gifts. She got some really great toys and beautiful outfits but of course she liked the boxes and bows the best! The big girls enjoyed ripping into all the presents and thought that they hit the jackpot when Jordan got a baby doll set, little do they know that the box is now safely in my closet so that Jordan can play with it when she is ready.
I hope a great time was had by all, I know that we all had a great time helping Jordan celebrate her first birthday. I can not wait to see what the next year has in store for us! Happy birthday Jordan toes, we love you!

Happy Birthday Jordan Toes!!!!

It is hard to believe that one year ago today our little Jordan was born. So much has happened in her first year. It seems that our helpless little baby is no longer helpless, she is walking, talking, feeding herself and climbing anything she can. Where did all the time go? It just seems like yesterday she was just eating, sleeping, and pooping. Now a lot happens in between the time she eats and sleeps. She still poops a lot but I guess that will never change.
We just can not get over what a great disposition Jordan has. She is such a happy little girl, who has a smile for everyone she comes in contact with. Now that she is talking more, she is calling out to people so they will talk to her.
Happy birthday Jordan Toes!!!!! We can not wait to see what the next year brings!

My how they have grown

We took the girls to the doctor yesterday for their annual physicals. My how they have grown!
Jordan at 2 days shy of her first birthday weighs eighteen pounds two ounces and is twenty nine and a quarter inches tall. The doctor could not get over the amount of teeth she had in her mouth and was impressed with her walking skills. She seemed to be the only one only remotely happy to see the doctor and she got three shots. Now we are only only about six months behind on her shots and since I split all of her shots we will be going to the office every six weeks to catch up. At this rate she will have all her shots completed by the time she is three.

Sydney weighs twenty three pounds and is thirty four inches tall. Her height is probably a little off because we had to wrestle her to the table to get the measurement. Sydney does not like the doctor and did everything within her power to make sure she did not touch her. All of her struggles did not work and she got a clean bill of health. She will need a renal ultra-sound because of the UTI but we will not be doing the more invasive test unless the kidney's are swollen. Keep your fingers crossed. Sydney enjoyed telling the doctor to leave and that she did not want her to come back.

Lior weighs twenty four pounds six ounces and is thirty five and a half inches tall. She complained bitterly about being examined but the doctor pushed ahead and Lior also got a clean bill of health. We will have to take her to the cardiologist because her murmur sounded louder and if the doctor could hear the murmur over Lior's screaming we needed to check it out. The last time we took the girls to the Cardiologist they were fine and I am sure that this re-check will yield the same results, a healthy Lior and a healthy Sydney (who also needs to be rechecked).

The wonderful world of Disney

Disney is truly a magical place. We loved every minute of it even though the girls were feeling a little under the weather. Words can not express how much fun we had watching the girls have fun.
On the first night while Sydney was sleeping at the table we enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show from the restaurant.

On Friday we decided to let the girls get to know some characters.
As you can see, Lior is less than thrilled and Sydney refused to get close.

They enjoyed riding "It's a Small World". Jordan could not get enough. She stood on Matt's lap and sang out to the dolls.
The big girls LOVED the Aladdin ride.

The biggest hit by far was eating lunch with Tigger and Pooh. I think Sydney could have hugged Tigger for twenty minutes.

Lior was getting very brave by the time Tigger came around and slapped him "five".

The girls had a chance to visit with some Princesses, unfortunately Jordan fell asleep while we were waiting on line and missed her chance to hug a princess. When Sydney walked in and saw the three Princesses ready to great her she was thrilled. We got to the first Princess, Aurora, and she could not wait to get to Cinderella. When we got to see Cinderella, she could not wait to see Belle. Lior was a little overwhelmed by the experience but loved seeing the "pinpesses".

We watched the parade and the girls loved it.

They slept very well by the end of every night!

Throw up anyone?

Friday morning Sydney summed up the day before and it went something like this:
"Mommy I throw up in botty"

"I throw up in bus"

"I throw up on train"

"I throw up on daddy"

"I throw up on mommy"

"I throw up in the car"
and then she picked up her doggy and said it was his tummy that hurt and that he was the one who threw up in the potty, not her. I think she was willing to own up to the rest of the places she threw up.
Lior woke up Friday morning throwing up and she will be more than willing to tell you that she threw up in her bed, my bed, the bathroom, the floor and on mommy.
I woke up Sunday morning feeling yucky and by the time we were in the car on our way back home I too was throwing up. I threw up in the car, in the bathroom and apparently I threw up on Matt.
Matt realized that everyone threw up on him this weekend, including Jordan who decided that she did not like chocolate pudding and wanted Matt to wear it.
Even though the weekend was covered in vomit, it was great! The best trip to Disney so far!
